When I first became an integrative physician, Barley Grass is on top of my daily menu. There are lots of food supplements out there but the balance that I am looking for resides in this green grass. The real benefit and power of Barley grass is the combination of all these nutrients and enzymes in one food. The best thing about barley grass powder is, it is very easily digested by the body.

1. Choose an organic product which has an existing up to date certificate. Anybody can say that their product is organic. But only a few can say that their product is “certified organic”. This is to avoid chemically unbalance food crops, not to mention GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms) which is now present in our everyday cereals.

2. Avoid products containing artificial sweeteners. All natural is a lot safer. Putting artificial sweetener on a natural product is basically insane or utterly stupid. Mostly used artificial sweetener is sucralose which on some peer reviewed journals may cause a long term serious side effects especially on our elimination channels i.e liver and kidneys.

3. Lastly the product must be cold processed and properly packed passing global standards GMP or ISO. This assures the consumers that the product they are taking is safe from contaminants and full of functional enzymes. Consuming the Barley grass has also shown to balance the pH of the body. The average pinoy diet is highly acidic especially when large quantities of processed foods are eaten. Raised acidity in the body is linked to many diseases and general ill-health. Barley grass is very alkalizing and useful for helping the cells in the body function optimally.
