What’s the real benefit of Barley?

What’s  the real benefit of Barley?

Perhaps you’re wondering, what’s so special about this food that made me write about it?  What’s  the real benefit of Barley?

It started when I learned from one of the early seminars I attended (with Santé International) about barley, that  barley has been around even before Jesus Christ’s time.  In fact, it was mentioned in the bible 37 times.

The first thing that crossed my mind when I heard that was to find my bible.  I need to check if this is really true.  So when I got the chance to hold my bible at home, I searched for the two sample passages mentioned in the seminar: Deuteronomy 8:7-9 and John 6:1-14.

Deuteronomy 8:7-9

“For the Lord God is bringing you into a good land…a land full of wheat and Barley, milk and honey in which you will lack nothing”

John 6:1-14

This was when Jesus fed the 5,000 people, “with two fish and five Barley loaves…”

I was really amazed to read the exact word B-A-R-L-E-Y straight from my bible.  What it is with barley that it needs its presence into the good land that the Lord God was bringing to his people?  What it is with  barley why Jesus didn’t hesitate to give it as food for the 5,000 people?

There must be really good about this food that I didn’t know yet.

In history, Roman Gladiators were known as the hordearii “barley eaters.”  They ate barley for strength and stamina.

The speaker of that seminar, a doctor,  then showed the picture of Dr. Yoshihide Hagiwara.  Dr. Yoshihide was a Japanese Doctor, Scientist, Inventor, Pharmacology, and Entrepreneur.  He was one of the well known authorities that researched intensively about barley. According to him, barley is “the only vegetation on earth that can supply nutritional support from birth to old age.”

When the speaker showed the micro-nutrients that can be found in barley grass, it was overwhelming:

Minerals: Boron, Calcium, Chloride, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Iodine, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Nikel, Phosphorus, Potassium, Selenium, Sodium, Sulfur, Zinc.

Vitamins: Beta carotene, Biotin, Choline, Folic acid, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E, F, K, P

Enzymes: Aspartate aminotransferase, Catalase, Cytochrome oxidasee, DNase, Fatty acid oxidase, Hexokinase, Malic dehydrogenase, Nitrate reductase, Nitrogen oxyredutase, Peroxidase, Peroxidase catalase, Phosphatase, Phospholipase, Polyphenoloxidase, RNase, Superoxide dismutase, Transhydrogenase

Amino Acids: Alanine, Arginine, Aspartic Acid, Cystine, Glutamic acid, Glycine, Histidine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Tryptophan, Tyrosine, Valine

Barley is recognized by science as the most nutritious of all plant foods, containing a broad spectrum of essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes plus chlorophyll, phytonutrients and phytochemicals that our bodies require for the proper functioning of organs and immune system.

For its chemical characteristics: Alkalinity – 66.4 (greater than spinach) and there is nothing for toxicity.

What is more special about Santé’s Pure Barley is that its barley grass were grown and harvested as organic.  Which means there were no pesticides, fertilizers, preservatives, or chemicals used when the product was produced.  It’s pure natural.

Our body needs 21 Amino acids.  Barley has 18.  The remaining 3 amino acids is naturally manufactured  by our body.

Pure barley has 30 times more vitamin B1 and 11 times the amount of calcium than there is in cow’s milk.  It has 6.5 times as much carotene and nearly 5 times the iron content of spinach.  There is also close to 7 times vitamin C in barley compared to oranges.

Barley grass is very high in organic sodium, which dissolves calcium deposited on the joints and also replenishes organic sodium in the lining of the stomach.  This aids digestion by improving the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

People with arthritis have used celery juice for years because of the organic sodium it contains (28mg/100g), but barley has (775mg/100g.)

Barley grass has one of the highest natural levels of enzyme which is a very powerful antioxidant that protects the cells against toxic free radicals, which is thought to be the major culprit in aging.

Barley obviously contains chlorophyll – a natural detoxifier that rids the intestines of stored toxins.  Nature uses chlorophyll as a body cleanser, re-builder, and neutralizer of toxins and it may even play an important role in prevention of certain cancers.  Chlorophyll also purifies the body.  It has natural antiseptic that has anti-bacteria effect on wounds.  It is also anti-inflammatory.  It can be used to help counteract the effects of arthritis, stomach ulcer, colitis, sore throats, and other inflammatory condition.  It also nourishes.  Chloropyll builds blood, promotes healthy intestinal flora, and assists in liver cleansing.

Barley also has huge amount of enzymes.  Think of enzymes as highly skilled workers.  Each enzyme performs a specific function within the body, while in union with other enzymes.  Enzymes have also been linked to the prevention and curing of cancer.  It deter the cancer cells ability to hide from the immune system and spread throughout the body.

Users of barley have also found barley useful as an aid in weight loss and good for the heart, ulcer, correcting blood sugar problems and most of all as a general tonic.

Finally, barley is a very powerful antioxidant.  It contains 25,500 ORAC value.

There are many more things to mentions but these findings were already enough for me to acknowledge barley’s capability as a “miracle food” and these information really convinced me to continue using barley in my every day life. – end
